Ask for what you need

I have an uncanny way of getting the perfect parking spot wherever I go.  One time I was with my 9 year old son and pulling into a parking spot and he said, "mommy, everytime I go somewhere with you, we park right in front of wherever we are going, but with Daddy, we never find a close parking spot."  I told a friend of mine that story and she laughed, but then she decided to try telling the Universe that she needed a good parking spot whenever she would drive somewhere, and the crazy thing is that it has been working for her.   

This week, on Thursday, I had the entire day open with nothing scheduled, but I really wanted to work that day.  So, during my morning meditation, I asked the Universe to send me some work.  I finished my meditation and felt drawn to call my mother-in-law. One of the first things she said was, "how would you like to do a job for me today?"  She said she had been sitting there that morning and suddenly got the idea to hire me to do some research at a local historical library for her. 

Do you ever ask the Universe for what you need?  I have always done that with personal growth issues.  I ask the Universe to send me a person or situation to help me learn whatever it is I am working on in myself, but I hadn't been in the habit of asking the Universe to send me other things I need.  I think the key when asking for what you need, is to pay attention to what actions you are drawn to take after you ask.  I asked the Universe to send me work that day and it did, but I might have missed it if I hadn't called my mother-in-law that morning like I was drawn to.
