Flipping your switch

Have you ever had the feeling of being truly present in your body?  Have you had the experience of flipping the switch that makes you come alive and your experience of the world more magical and vibrant?

I was at a networking group this week and we each have about 1 -2 minutes to introduce who we are and what we do.  This week, rather than describe what I do, I wanted to demonstrate it.  I asked everyone to close their eyes and start breathing deeply, to move their attention into their bodies, and to let their thoughts move down out of their heads and flow down, through their bodies, and into the Earth. I did this also as I talked them through it.  It felt centering like it always does, but I didn't think that much about it, until I walked outside after the meeting. I began to notice how good I felt.  I had managed to flip my switch. I felt joyful and grateful, and the world felt alive and vibrant.  The feeling of the grass under my feet, the smell of the moisture in the air and the gray clouds covering the sky overhead were magical to me. As I made my way home, I could feel the joy of experiencing life on the planet.  After I got home, I slid my slippers on, and the softness of them on my feet felt amazing.  This is what I feel like when I am truly present in my body. But what surprised me the most was that this amazing feeling was the result of taking 1 - 2 minutes to consciously sink out of my head and into my body earlier that morning.

You may think that in order to have a strong spiritual practice, you have to spend a lot of time meditating or praying, but really, a couple of highly focused moments can center you and transform the way you experience yourself and your day in magical ways.

What is it that makes you feel centered and alive?  Do you practice it often?  I would encourage you to take some time to reflect on the times when you felt like you'd flipped your switch to on - times when you felt like the world was magical and you were grateful to be here. Think about what you were doing and write it down.  Then see if you can find the time to incorporate that into your life more often.  If you need help finding this within yourself, please contact me.
