Harnessing the power of the subconscious
Everyone seems to be talking about how to clear your subconscious mind of everything that limits you in your life. But what if one of the ways we limit ourselves in our lives is by not harnessing the power of the subconscious for good? What if we could stop experiencing the interaction of the conscious and subconscious mind as a battle and rather, allow them to work together? Did you know that your conscious mind can only do one thing at a time? Whereas the subconscious can do thousands of things at once. It controls the autonomic nervous system, helps you to think of things out of the blue and can be a huge asset in your life, if you only let it.
Recently, I found myself with too many things to keep track of, remember and then do. I was starting to crumble under the weight of it all. I spent far too much time up in my head trying to make sure I didn't drop any of the balls I was juggling. Then I came to a point where I just couldn't do it all anymore, so I let a few balls drop from conscious control, and guess what happened? They didn't drop. My subconscious held them for me and presented them to my conscious mind when I needed them. I would be fixing breakfast in the morning, and my eyes would suddenly look at the clock at the exact time that I was supposed to remove something from the oven - which was incredible since my kitchen timer was broken. I didn't have to remember, I just had to be open to listening when my subconscious had something to share. The last time I went out of town, instead of making my 2 page list of everything I needed to do before I left, I handed it over to my subconscious and one by one, my subconscious brought each thing that would have been on my list to my conscious mind at the perfect time, and the stress of having to handle and remember it all was gone. It's not that I gave up using my conscious mind all together, but rather am learning to use both at the same time.
Maybe that's what people mean when they say, surrender and everything seems to do itself? Surrender trying to control everything consciously and let your subconscious help out. The subconscious has a lot to share with us if we learn to listen and to trust it.
