Speaking your truth

I have been thinking a lot about what it means to speak your truth.  You hear the term everywhere these days. I used to think it meant speaking up when you would normally keep your thoughts and feelings to yourself. But, the more I work with my clients around this, the more I see that speaking your truth means finding and speaking a true expression of your heart and that essential truth within.

Sometimes people have trouble speaking their truth because they don't yet know how to listen to their hearts to even know what their truth is.  Sometimes, people are speaking what they think and feel about something, but it is coming from a place of judgment which naturally has a heart closing effect - so it isn't really their truth either.  And sometimes speaking your truth doesn't have anything to do with actually speaking.  Sometimes it has to do with simply allowing yourself to feel what you are feeling and not to try to talk yourself out of it.

I have been seeing all of these layers unfolding, so I wanted to share my thoughts with you about it.  If you'd like to send me your thoughts about it, I would love to read them.
