Wound up in knots
Sometimes I notice that my body feels like it is wound up in knots, and I realize that I am being grouchy and reactive. Inevitably, when I begin to reflect on it, I realize that I am actually sad or scared about something that I haven’t been allowing myself to feel. I am wound up in knots trying to hold the emotion in without even being conscious of it.
Have you ever done that? The next time you are feeling edgy and grouchy and your body is wound up tightly, take a minute to ask yourself why you are feeling that way. Feel into your tension and ask yourself what is underneath it. See what comes up. For me, the flood gates usually open and I cry for a while, but then the armor comes down, the sun comes out and my family is a lot happier to be around me.
